Northwest Electric is certified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) for the repair of explosion-proof motors, pumps, and generators designed for highly combustible environments. Each piece of equipment is repaired to meet the UL specifications.
What is UL?
Underwriters Laboratories (UL) is a global company that works with manufacturers and businesses to enhance safety, compliance, and sustainability. UL collaborates to establish standards and offers services including inspection, advisory services, education and training, testing, auditing and analytics, certification software solutions, and marketing claim verification.
What does it take to be UL certified?
When repairing explosion-proof motors, pumps, and generators, it is critical that the equipment is restored to its original safety specifications and requirements. All repairs are subject to specific tests for thermal protection and load using equipment that is calibrated annually. Northwest Electric inspects each piece of equipment for damages that could affect their operation in hazardous locations. These detailed inspections and testing requirements prevent sparks or debris from igniting if the motor, pump, or generator does fail. For every five repairs, UL conducts an unannounced audit of Northwest Electric to make sure all equipment is calibrated and measured and to see that all motors, pumps, and generators are being repaired according to the UL listing.
